Are you enthusiastic about these new functions? Then we have bad news, because there is a chance that you cannot use them yet. With some of all users, the latest functions such as the chat themes have not yet been added. That does not have to do with the chat themes, it almost always happens that you cannot get started immediately with the latest functions of WhatsApp. That has to do with the way in which the chat service releases updates.
Updates are rolled out
Have you updated WhatsApp to the most recent version, but are the latest functions still missing? According to WhatsApp, that can have various causes. The chat service almost always releases updates in phases. That means that not all new features are rolled out everywhere at the same time. It depends on your country, region and device when WhatsApp adds the new features to the application.
For example, it is more common that new functions are previously available for iPhone users than for Android users, and vice versa. In addition, WhatsApp can opt for a slow release of the latest functions. In that case it takes hours, days or even weeks for everyone to use a new or updated feature. Presumably WhatsApp opted for a slow release when the chat themes were introduced this month.

It can therefore take weeks before all users can get started with the latest functions of WhatsApp. With a slow release, WhatsApp tries to prevent problems with updates. By releasing a new software version in phases, the servers are not overloaded and any software errors can be adjusted faster. As a result, you regularly have to wait a little longer for the new features.
The chat themes are currently the latest functions of WhatsApp. In the background, the chat service is already working on the next update.
