Do you watch Apple TV Plus with the whole family? This is how you set a child lock

Does your whole family watch Apple TV Plus? Then it might be wise to turn on a child lock. This way, the little ones cannot accidentally watch movies and series with adult images. This is how the Apple TV Plus child lock works.

Set child lock for Apple TV Plus

Apple TV Plus is a family-friendly streaming service. Yet there are also violent films and series on the Disney Plus and Netflix competitor, which are not intended for the smallest. Fortunately, you can therefore set a child lock. This blockage protects adult images from the little ones. That is how it works:

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad;
2. Tap on ‘Screen Time’ and go to ‘Restrictions’;
3. Slide the switch at ‘Restrictions’, if you have not already done so;
4. Choose Content Restrictions and go to TV Shows;
5. Indicate the age limit that you think is appropriate for the age of your children.

You can also block all TV programs or remove the restriction altogether. You can set a child lock on films in much the same way. To do this, tap ‘Back’ once at the top left of the screen. Now choose ‘Movies’ and enter an age restriction again. It is also possible to block all films.

Set child lock via the browser

You can also set a parental lock for Apple TV Plus on your Mac or Apple TV. Don’t have all these devices at hand? Then it is best to impose restrictions via the browser:

1. Go to the official website of Apple TV Plus;
2. Log in with your Apple ID details, if you are not logged in by default;
3. Click on the account button at the top right and choose ‘Account settings’;
4. Scroll down and slide the switch under the heading ‘Restrictions’;
5. Enter a pin code, press ‘Continue’ and confirm by entering the code again;
6. Finally, enter an email address that will be used to send a reminder if you forget the PIN.
