Dodge now also offers its most powerful V8 separately

Dodge is preparing for an electric future, but the V8 has not disappeared anytime soon. In fact, Dodge will now offer the C170. Are what? Well, Dodge’s most powerful V8 ever. The heart of the Challenger SRT Demon 170.

A year ago to the day, we heard what the fully electric Dodge Charger Daytona SRT has to offer. Although V8 enthusiasts will have to get used to it, to say the least, the new Charger will also soon be good for quite a bit of horsepower. If you are still not interested in that and would rather just use unadulterated petrol power, then Dodge is still the right place for you for the time being. It now presents a whole list of ‘crate engines’, engines that you can simply buy separately and put into any vehicle yourself. One really stands out.

Dodge offers the Hellephant C170. A 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that can generate a whopping 1,025 American horsepower (1,040 hp). It is Dodge’s most powerful V8 and we already know it from the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, the superlative of the Challenger. Precisely at the moment when the V8 seems to slowly disappear towards the exit. A particularly capable engine, to put it mildly understatement, which only achieves the specified power with E85 petrol. In any case, in the Challenger SRT Demon 170 it’s enough for a sprint from 0-97 km/h (60 mph) in just 1.66 seconds. Anyone who wants to mount the monster in something themselves will have to dig deep into their pockets. The engine costs over €26,000.

In the video below you can see (and hear) the Hellephant C170 in action:
