Sammy Miller, founder and owner of Britain’s Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum, was honored with two Awards in early December – one for the 450-motorcycle museum he created, and the Guild of Motoring Writers’ President’s Trophy – the award for people who have performed exceptionally in international motorsport.
It was a double honor the evening of December 2, when Sammy Miller MBE was the guest of honor at the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall, London for the Guild of Motoring Writers Annual Dinner & Awards.
It was at this historic club, founded in 1897, that the esteemed President’s Trophy was presented to Sammy, the first motorcyclist ever to receive this prestigious award.
The President’s Trophy is awarded for outstanding achievements in international motorsport. The winner will be chosen by the President himself, Prince Michael of Kent, in consultation with the Guild of Motoring Writers committee.
Past winners include Sir Lewis Hamilton in 2020, Sir Frank Williams in 2017 and Sir Stirling Moss in 2010, just to name a few.
Sammy is delighted to follow last year’s winner Sir Lewis Hamilton in accepting this honor following in the footsteps of some of the great motorsport greats.
Being the first motorcyclist to receive the President’s Trophy is a great honor and recognizes not only Sammy’s personal racing achievements, but also his dedication to what is now recognized as the best motorcycle museum in Europe, if not the world.
That same evening, the Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum was also represented at the New Forest Brilliance in Business Awards with the New Forest Business Partnership.
Unfortunately, Sammy was unable to attend both ceremonies, so Emma Ashton, Sammy’s PA and Sharon Bumpsteed, Museum Manager, were delighted to accept the Comdata UK award for Outstanding Customer Attraction on his behalf.
This award follows induction into the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame just before the Covid19 pandemic hit, recognizing 5 years of consistently high customer reviews and more recently being awarded the TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award in August, placing the museum in the top 10 % state of tourist attractions worldwide. The Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum continues to grow, confirming its place as Europe’s best motorcycle museum.
Sammy is very proud of this Outstanding Customer Attraction award, in recognition of the ongoing work to ensure that every visitor to this amazing tourist attraction has the best experience possible and put New Milton on the world map.
The Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum is located in New Milton near the British South Coast on the edge of the New Forest. If you happen to be in the area, it’s definitely worth it. More info at sammymiller.co.uk.
