The Youtuber PhoneBuff took a Galaxy S22 Ultra and an iPhone 13 Pro Max to drop test them. Both aircraft fell from different positions to a height of one and a half meters on a stone surface. They fall first on the back, then on a corner and last with the screen down. It’s not a scientific test, but it does give you an idea of what an accidental fall will have with these devices.
What is striking is that cracks can appear on the back in the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. With the iPhone, the bottom edge is also damaged if the phone is dropped on the back. In case of a fall on a corner, the damage to both devices is not too bad, because in addition to some serious dents in the aluminum, there are no consequences for the functioning of the two devices.
Use a case
A fall with the screen down still deals serious damage. The screen of the Galaxy S22 Ultra is noticeably worse compared to the iPhone 13 Max ¨Pro and the fingerprint scanner no longer works because of the cracks. However, the screen still works.
