Dropbox gets extra function (which has been available on the iPhone for 10 years)

There is an update available for Dropbox! Dropbox finally gets a function, which has been available on the iPhone for ten years. This changes.

New function Dropbox

Dropbox has released an update for the app on the iPhone and iPad! In the latest version, the applications will have a number of new functions. After installing the update you get more options when editing PDF files. This way you can draw and mark texts in these files. Do you regularly work with PDF files? That is much easier from version 416.2 from Dropbox.

That is not the any change that Dropbox has implemented, because in the renewed version the app finally has support for Live Photos. It is striking that this function is only now coming to Dropbox, because Apple already introduced live photos to the iPhone 6S. That means that the feature has been around for ten years now. In those ten years it was never possible to add live photos to Dropbox, but that changes in the new version of the app.

Live photos

In 2015, Apple introduced the Live Photos function. This feature enabled what happens just before and after the recording. This applies to both the image and the audio, giving you a moving photo. Live Photos are other files than normal photos, which are now also supported by Dropbox. With the new function you can finally keep live photos in Dropbox on your iPhone and iPad.

Do you want to save a live photo at Dropbox? Then you can choose how you do that. You have the choice between a Heic or JPG file. It is advisable to choose the latter, because this file type is more often supported in other programs. You can also opt for a standing image or live photo. Only with the second do you store all the data of the Live Photo, with a standing image the file is stored as a normal image.

More about Dropbox

Do you regularly use Dropbox? Then a number of useful functions have been added to the application. It is unclear why Dropbox only comes with support for Live Photos. In any case, it is good news that you can now save live photos in Dropbox, so that you cannot only keep them on your iPhone or iPad. Pay attention, because live photos need more storage space.

This applies to both your iPhone or iPad and with Dropbox. The more Live Photos you save, the faster the storage space is full at Dropbox. So only save files that you really want to store, because otherwise you will soon need a more expensive subscription to Dropbox. The new functions of Dropbox are now available for everyone, because the update has since been rolled out. Make sure the app has been updated to version 416.2, so that you can get started right away with the latest features.
