Ducati recalls 2019 Hypermotard 950 for welding sidestand

In September 2020, Ducati received a first report of a Hypermotard 950 that had tipped over due to a broken sidestand. During the investigation, which was immediately started in Borgo Panigale, it became clear that a total of 10 indecents worldwide were involved.

In seven out of ten cases the complaint was that the sidestand bent excessively, in the other three cases there was a broken sidestand which resulted in the motorcycle tipping over. In no case was there any physical injury.

The investigation, which was carried out in consultation with the supplier of the side stand, showed that in a certain production batch the weld was not in accordance with specifications. On September 21, 2021, after identifying all affected units, Ducati issued a recall.

The recall affects the 2019 Hypermotard 950 with production dates from January 7, 2019 to March 29, 2019. Dealers and customers will be notified by Ducati of the recall. At the dealer, the inferior side stand will be replaced by a stand that has been properly welded.

By the way, it is not the first time that Ducati has a thingy with the sidestand, at the end of 2019 Ducati already recalled the 2019 Multistrada 1260 for exactly the same problem.
