Ducati Unveils Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak: Most Extreme Multi Ever

After previously unveiling the new Multistrada V2, Ducati has presented the Pikes Peak version of the Multistrada V4 in the third episode of Ducati World Premiere 2022. The Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak is not only the sportiest Multistrada ever, but also the most powerful model in the entire crossover segment.

Ducati Unveils Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak: Most Extreme Multi Ever

Where in the past the Pikes Peak version mainly distinguished itself by some carbon parts, striking decalls, Öhlins suspension and a different exhaust system, the Italians have gone a step further with the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak and have also adapted the bicycle part.

Starting at the front, where the V4’s 19″ front wheel has made way for a 17″ one – indeed, just like the old Multistrada 1260 (and everything before that). The only V-twin model where Ducati used a 19″ front wheel in the past was the Multistrada 950, which will go through life as a Multistrada V2 from next year.

Also at the rear, Ducati has gone back in time, by swapping the double-sided swingarm of the V4 (S) for a particularly beautiful single-sided bridge, as it has always been in the past. According to Ducati, the Marchesini forged rims are 2.7 kilograms lighter than the rims of the Multistrada V4 S.

Like previous Pikes Peak models, this V4 Pikes Peak is also equipped with Öhlins suspension, but instead of old-school tuning, Ducati has opted for semi-active suspension this time, but then the cream of the crop.

The Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension should deliver brilliant performance even with a sporty driving style, using an event-based mode, the same as the Panigale V4 S and Streetfighter V4 S, which automatically adapts the setting to the driving style.

As for brakes, Ducati has used the same brakes as those of the Multistrada V4 S, i.e. 330 mm discs with Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers, but fitted with the same brake pads as the Panigale V4. The aluminum monocoque frame has also been renewed, whereby, remarkably enough, the steering head is slightly more tilted (25.75° compared to 24.5°).

Compared to the Multistrada V4, the riding position has been completely revamped: for example, the footpegs are higher and placed back to increase the maximum lean angle, while the handlebars are lower and narrower and feature curved bars. The end result is that the rider benefits from an even better feeling for sporty riding while maintaining an excellent level of comfort.

The new Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak is powered by the same V4 Granturismo as the regular Multi V4, producing 170 hp with a maximum torque of 125 Nm at 8,750 rpm. This engine, specially designed by Ducati for the Multistrada V4 family, is a benchmark in terms of versatility and reliability, with a record-breaking service interval, with valve clearance checks scheduled every 60,000 km.

The V4 Granturismo engine has been optimized to intensify the motorcycle’s characteristics and features several innovations. One of these is the introduction of the Race Riding Mode, which is a first for the Multistrada models. The Race option has been added to a more race-oriented strategy for the limiter, which intervenes more gradually than with the Multistrada V4.

The quickshifter also has a special strategy that allows for extremely aggressive downshifts, as well as the implementation of an even more direct throttle response in High Power Mode. In addition to the introduction of Race Riding Mode, the Ducati Wheelie Control on the Pikes Peak has an updated strategy that should provide even better response and more accurate control.

The Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak features the latest generation and the advanced
Electronic package of the Multistrada V4 S, which includes standard front and rear radar technology, which provides Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Blind Spot Detection (BSD) functionality.

The motorcycle will be available from the beginning of January 2022 at official Ducati dealers in the Radar version, which is equipped with both a front and rear radar system for 33,590 Euro in the Netherlands and 29,290 Euro in Belgium.

Ducati offers customers the “4Ever Multistrada”, the exclusive 4-year warranty available for all Multistrada models. It has unlimited mileage and is guaranteed by the entire Ducati dealer network.
