Dutchman at the helm of Lucid Europe

Lucid’s European branch is headquartered in Amsterdam and is now also appointing a Dutchman as managing director: Michael van der Sande. He exchanges a top position within Jaguar Land Rover to work for the American manufacturer of electric luxury cars in Europe.

The name Michael van der Sande might ring a bell with you. The Dutchman has held many senior positions at brands such as Bentley, Aston Martin and Tesla and has made a name for himself in recent years as a top manager during the resurrection of Alpine and the Special Vehicle Operations branch of Jaguar Land Rover. He left the latter in the autumn of 2022 for a sabbatical of several months, to continue at the helm of Lucid Europe.

Lucid announces this on LinkedIn. The Dutchman is like managing director responsible for the European business of Lucid, which delivered the first European copies of the Air to customers on this continent in December, in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Norway and Germany. It is up to Van der Sande to extend that list of countries. Something that – provided the brand continues to increase its production numbers – Lucid certainly has in mind. Not only the Air, but also the Gravity, Lucid’s second model, should appear on the European market in due course. The plan is to also launch smaller, more affordable models on the (European) market later on.
