The Norwegian Easee today announced its latest home charger for electric and hybrid vehicles with the Easee Charge Lite. Later this year, Easee will release the two new commercial EV chargers Charge Core and Charge Max.
Easee was founded in January 2018 by three Norwegian entrepreneurs to create the world’s smartest electric vehicle charger. Easee develops, designs and manufactures its products in Scandinavia and today unveils 3 new solutions for home charging and commercial charging. These are the Easee EV chargers Charge Lite, Charge Core and Charge Max.
ChargeLite
The Charge Lite is the first of the Easee range of chargers available now. This home charger can charge at speeds up to 11 kW on a 3-phase power supply or up to 7.4 kW on a 1-phase power supply. This makes it one of the most powerful 1-phase chargers at the moment.
The Charge Lite offers the same ease of installation and sleek Scandinavian design that the Easee chargers are known for. The car charger is also built to withstand the toughest weather conditions. It supports all EVs, phases, grids and energy meters – in combination with the Equalizer. This means users don’t have to worry about compatibility when switching EVs or adjusting their electrical system at home.
The Charge Lite will also have local Bluetooth. This allows users to operate their charger locally without being online. When users are within range of their charger, they can start/stop charging, check charging information such as charging speed (power in kW) and unlock/lock the charging cable. This latest car charger is also compatible with other Easee products, including the Easee Equalizer, which enables load balancing and charging via solar or wind energy. Easee Charge Lite will receive continuous over-the-air (OTA) firmware and software updates, making it a future-proof option for EV drivers.
Caroline Vorpenes, Product Director at Easee: “With the Charge Lite, we wanted to develop an affordable charger that is suitable for households with one electric car and that is future-proof. Our data showed that most people charge their car at home at a speed of less than than 11 kW. Having established this, we focused on determining the other features most relevant to single or dual EV households. The Charge Lite addresses the needs of a huge segment of the home charging market. “
Charge Core and Charge Max preview
In the last quarter of 2023, two new commercial chargers will be launched: the Charge Core and Charge Max. The 22 kW Charge Core is designed for semi-public charging, for example at workplaces, apartment complexes, parking garages and vehicle fleets. The Charge Core is also suitable as a powerful home charger that provides fast AC charging for users with larger charging needs or for electric vehicles with larger batteries.
The Charge Max will be Easee’s 22kW MID certified charger, which is fully compliant with the EU directive for consumption measuring instruments. This charger is a good solution for charging at apartment complexes, parking garages and fleets where a payment solution is required for reimbursement purposes. Charge point owners or lessors can use the Charge Max to create a new revenue stream for charging EVs, or to enable EV drivers to track and pay for only the energy they use.
Alfred Kuijer, Country Director Easee Benelux: “By the end of 2023, we expect to be able to launch a completely new range of EV chargers, each with leading features and capabilities. At the same time, we will stick to everything that makes Easee chargers so popular with EV drivers and installers. We look forward to launching the product range and introducing our chargers to partners, installers and EV enthusiasts. Thanks to the new generation of car chargers and all parties in the market, we can continue our commitment to driving the energy transition together accelerate.”
