Electric BMW i5: four-wheel drive, but no sporty M genes

The electric BMW i5 will have an engine version. The i5 was already available as an eDrive40 with rear-wheel drive and as a powerful M60 xDrive with all-wheel drive. There is now also a BMW i5 with xDrive all-wheel drive without M Performance sauce: the i5 xDrive40. AutoWeek can tell you what it costs before BMW itself makes it public.

The BMW news is hitting the baseboards. Last year, BMW introduced the updated 4-series Coupé and Convertible, a Z4 with manual gearbox and a series of new engine versions for the X2, iX2 and i5, among others. AutoWeek now showers you with the prices of a whole bunch of those newcomers. This time we have the price of the BMW i5 xDrive40.

The BMW i5 xDrive40 has two electric motors that together produce 394 hp and 590 Nm, making it a lot more powerful than the rear-wheel drive i5 eDrive40 with a single 340 hp electric motor. The BMW i5 xDrive40 has the same 81.2-kWh battery as the i5 eDrive40 and the powerful i5 M60 xDrive. It can travel up to 538 kilometers on a full charge.

The starting price of the BMW i5 xDrive40 is €80,227. Do you want the M Sport package? Then bring €83,221 to the BMW dealer. For comparison: the BMW i5 eDrive40 starts from €77,575.
