Electric car subsidy pot empty for a third

EV's multi-test double test electric EV Tesla

The subsidy pot that is available this year for the purchase of a new or used electric car is empty for a third after just under three weeks. Of the available €91.4 million, more than €30.8 million has been allocated. It is striking that the part of the subsidy pot for the purchase of an electric used car decreases almost as quickly as the part for the purchase of a new EV.

The subsidy pot for the purchase of a new or used EV is 33.7 percent empty within three weeks. Of the total available €91.4 million, €30.84 million has now been allocated, which means that €60.56 million in SEPP subsidy can still be applied for. Please note: the figures are based on the position up to and including 20 January 08:00. This also applies to applications. This does not mean that every applicant will actually receive a subsidy.

The more than €91 million is not only intended as a contribution towards the purchase of a new electric passenger car. A total of €71 million is earmarked for the purchase of a new EV, on which you can receive a €3,350 SEPP subsidy. Of the €71 million, €24.93 million has been requested, so about 35 percent. This means that SEPP subsidy has been applied for for 7,441 new electric cars. There is still €46.07 million available, good for 13,753 new electric cars.

The remaining €20.4 million in the subsidy pot is intended as a contribution towards the purchase of an electric used car. You can receive a €2,000 SEPP subsidy on this. Of the €20.4 million, €5.92 million has now been requested, so about 29 percent. This means that subsidy has been requested for 2,958 used electric cars to date. There is still €14.48 million available, which means that 7,242 used EVs can still be purchased with subsidy.

Of course you cannot apply for a subsidy for every new or used electric car. Here you can read everything about the conditions and how to apply for a Subsidy for Electric Passenger Cars (SEPP) for a new or used electric passenger car.
