Electric Mercedes-Benz EQS in pictures

Mercedes-Benz will launch a wide range of all-electric newcomers in the coming years. The EQS will be at the top of the EV range. The electric alternative to the S-Class is now more visible than ever.

Electric cars come in more and more shapes and sizes. The absolute top class cannot escape complete electrification either. Jaguar is turning the new XJ into an EV and BMW has an electric alternative to the 7-series in the form of the i7 in the development rooms. The S-class will also receive an electrical equivalent. The EQS will be the brand’s electric flagship, likely to make its public debut in the first quarter of this year. On a brand new set of espionage records, more than ever of that electric top sedan can be seen.

Mercedes-Benz will market no fewer than six new EVs up to and including 2022. In addition to the EQA and EQB, which use the platform of the GLA and GLB respectively, new electric models will be built on a new modular basis. The EQS and EQS SUV will soon be electrical equivalents of the S-class and GLS respectively, but have little or nothing to do with those types on a technical level. That is also the reason that the EQS in these photos has a completely different body than the new S-class. The shape of the EQS is very similar to that of the Vision EQS, a conceptual four-door coupé introduced in 2019.

The EQS in these photos is covered with less camouflage material than the previously captured test samples. The light signature has been portrayed fairly well for the first time, both at the front and rear. In addition, it seems that the rear lights – how could it be otherwise – in any case optically connected. The EQS should have an electrical range of at least 700 kilometers (WLTP). Mercedes-Benz also hangs a new MBUX system in the interior of its top electric model. This system includes an enormously curved display that covers almost the entire width of the dashboard. More information about this MBUX Hyperscreen will follow later this month. We expect Mercedes-Benz to release more information about the EQS in the coming months.
