Between now and 2024, Polestar will launch three new models, which will be named Polestar 3, 4 and 5 – quite fancifully. The first two are electric SUVs, the latter is the production version of the Polestar Precept. The Polestar 3 will debut next year, a large luxury SUV that shares its technology with the next-generation Volvo XC90.
According to Polestar boss Thomas Ingenlath, the timeline is as follows: the Polestar 3 will be launched in 2022, the Polestar 5 a year later and only after that the Polestar 4. The first will be an SUV the size of the Volvo XC90. Ingenlath describes it as a premium and performance electric SUV. A Porsche Cayenne equivalent. Both the Polestar 3 and the new XC90 are on the Volvo group’s SPA2 platform.
Polestar 4 will be a coupé SUV the size of the Polestar 2
The Polestar 4 will be a coupé-like SUV in the Polestar 2 segment, says Ingenlath. He probably shares his platform with Volvo XC40, Polestar 2 and Volvo C40 Recharge. We saw the Polestar 5 before. It will be the production version of the Polestar Precept Concept and will reach the top 2 in the segment. In the first photos of the car, his design seems to have some Tesla traits.
