Significantly more power
The first copies of the Zeekr 001 have only reached the European market, but that has not stopped parent company Geely from giving its electric hatchback a makeover. AutoWeek can already show you the refreshed Zeekr X in detail. We also have the first technical specifications of the car.
The Chinese Ministry of Transport and Information Technology has presented its monthly series of new models registered with the department by car manufacturers. This means that in the near future we will bombard you again with new models that are relevant or interesting for the European car buyer. We already presented you with the new Volkswagen Magotan – the Chinese equivalent of what our Passat Sedan could have been – and at the same time showed you the extended version of the Tiguan. This time we have the updated Zeekr 001.
The very first Zeekr 001 intended for Europe was delivered in December. The European and Dutch markets have only just sniffed out the electric hatchback, but the model has been around for a while. The Zeekr 001 started its life in March 2021 as a study model from Lynk & Co and appeared on the Chinese market as Zeekr 001 in October of that year. So about two and a half years ago. Zeekr will soon introduce a subtly refreshed version in its home country of China.
Does Zeekr’s innovation on 001 blow you off your chair in amazement? Probably not. The updated Zeekr 001 looks exactly like the current model. However, if you look carefully, you will see that the Zeekr 001 has new front and rear bumpers. These are very similar to the ones that adorn the front and rear of the crazy sporty top version called 001 FR. Of course without the extra lips, edges and other elements that increase the visual dynamics. Also striking: the rear roof spoiler is new and is located lower on the 001 pips.
Due to the arrival of the new bumper work, the Zeekr 001 grows in length by a few millimeters. There are also some changes mechanically. For example, we know that the rear-wheel drive version – at least in China – will soon produce 421 hp. The current rear-wheel drive Zeekr 001 has 272 hp. So quite a difference. The non-FR-named four-wheel drive variant in China will soon have not only the 421 hp electric motor at the rear, but also a 367 hp powerful one on the front axle. Its system power: 788 hp. The current Zeekr 001 AWD has two electric motors that together produce 544 hp. That version also seems to gain a significant amount of horsepower.
We do not yet have any information regarding the Dutch market.
