EV subsidy pot still more than half full

The subsidy pot for buying or leasing a new or second-hand EV, the Subsidy Electric Passenger Cars (SEPP), is still more than half full exactly one month after the counter opened. This is apparent from new figures from the RVO, which manages the subsidy pot. To date, €37.2 million in applications has been submitted, while a total of €91.4 million in subsidy is available.

This means that the subsidy pot is already emptied a lot more gradually than in 2020, when the subsidy was released for the first time. The amount you could get was then higher and the jar smaller. The result was that the entire pot was completely dry within eight days. This year, €71 million has been made available for the purchase or lease of a new EV. After one month, the number of applications is just over 9,000, which amounts to a total amount of €30.3 million. This means that there is still more than €40 million left to be distributed. The subsidy pot for used electric cars is €20.4 million. Of this, €6.9 million has now been submitted in applications.

A total of €54.2 million in subsidy is now available. For a second-hand EV, the subsidy is €2,000, for a new EV it is an amount of €3,350. However, the price of the car for which subsidy is requested must be between €12,000 and €45,000 to be eligible. You can read the additional conditions for the SEPP subsidy and a list of eligible models here.
