Exclusive: new sports coupé from the 3D printer

Techzle exclusively owns the patent plates for a car that will not come from a regular production line in the long term, but will be manufactured using a 3D printer. It is a sports coupé from the American Divergent.

Rewind to 2015, the year in which we first heard about start-up Divergent. The company, then called Divergent Microfactories, introduced the Blade to the world six years ago. That was a 700 hp supercar that liked both petrol and natural gas. More special was the way in which the Blade was manufactured, the fiercely lined and only 630 kilos weighing sign of Divergent’s knowledge and expertise was made with a 3D printer. Techzle owns patent plates showing a new Divergent car.

It has sharply drawn, flat lighting on both the front and rear. It is not yet known whether Divergent will actually produce this new coupé in series or whether it will remain with one copy, just like the Blade. The manufacturer does not reveal any further details.

Divergent is currently not doing very well. At this time last year, the company was forced to reduce its workforce by a third. About 100 people currently work there. Divergent is a supplier to the automotive industry and aviation and believes that 3D printers, in which the company specializes, can significantly speed up the production process. In February last year, the car brand Czinger, created by Divergent CEO Kevin Czinger, presented the 21C, a supercar that also partly came from the 3D printer. It is not inconceivable that the coupé on these patent plates will also come into the world under the flag of Czinger.
