What is AppleCare+?
AppleCare is best described as an Apple insurance. For a one -off amount you will receive two years (iPhone / iPad / Apple Watch) and three years (Mac) long support and you can have much cheaper repairs carried out. You used to have a distinction between AppleCare and AppleCare+, since 30 October 2018 you can take out an AppleCare+ insurance for both the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac. This gives you more coverage than the previous variant and you can even have your Apple product repaired twice a year when the damage was caused by an accident.

Coverage and parts of AppleCare+
The AppleCare+ insurance consists of various parts and things to which you are entitled. We list them:

AppleCare+ purchase
If AppleCare+ wants to purchase you must do this when purchasing the Apple product. If you have not done this, you have the time to do this 60 days after purchase. What about the standard AppleCare warranty?
When you purchase an Apple product, in most cases you have an AppleCare warranty in most cases. However, this is a stripped version of AppleCare+. This way you only get the first 90 days of telephone support and you are not insured against accidents.
In addition, only damage due to production errors and due to Apple is (limited). In the first year, Apple often does not make it difficult for problems, at least if you have purchased the product from them. If you buy your iPhone or Mac via an Apple Premium reseller or telecom provider, you must always address them first.
Repair costs and deductible
When your Apple product is broken, you can pay quite a few repair costs. As an example we take the iPhone 14, where you pay € 338.99 or € 659 for a screen repair for a screen repair. Thanks to AppleCare+ this is ‘free’ during the duration of your contract and you pay a deductible of € 29 for the screen and € 99 for other damage. Extra insurance for loss or theft (new)
In addition to the standard AppleCare+ package, you can also insure your device for loss or theft. This costs € 60 to € 70 extra on top of the standard coverage, you can read the exact prices here back.
Have you lost your device or will it be stolen? Then you can get a replacement device with a deductible of € 129. You can use this once for a period of 12 months. For the term, this would be a maximum of twice.

Mind you, AppleCare+ with coverage for loss and theft is not available in all countries, for example in the Netherlands, but not in Belgium. Click here For an overview. Legal warranty of two years
Of course, according to European legislation, you have a standard two -year warranty anyway. Of course Apple is aware of this and they also report this when you want to purchase AppleCare+. However, that you are entitled to the warranty does not mean that you are just right. Especially when your product is older than a year, you will have to actively get started to claim something.

In addition, most companies will send you to the store or webshop where you bought the product for the first two years. If that is Apple itself, it becomes a bit easier again. But even then it is a matter of production errors or through Apple. If this is not the case, you must always pay for the repair, whether or not at a reduced rate.

Why AppleCare+ purchase?

You will pay a deductible, but in the end you are much cheaper and you have a good working device again.
AppleCare+ is not a requirement, because you also have a consumer guarantee of 2 years. However, you have to go after everything, that is not the case with AppleCare+.
