WhatsApp competitor Telegram has released an update that adds a number of useful features. Read here what’s new and how to use the options.
This is new in Telegram
Just like its major competitor WhatsApp, Telegram is regularly provided with new features. Version 4.9.1, now in the App Store, first introduces the ability to export your chats. This allows you to keep all your conversations, including the media you’ve sent, in a different place.
For the time being, this only works with the desktop version of Telegram. Open the application, go to the settings and scroll down until you see “Export Telegram data”. Here you can choose exactly what you want to save, and in which format. To save space, you can, for example, choose not to export video files.
In addition, Telegram now gives you even more control over the notifications that the iOS app sends. New are the so-called “Exceptions”, with which you can see which chats or persons are excluded from the general notification settings. This makes it easier, for example, to silence all contacts, except for a few people.
