Extend Edge with Chrome Extensions

The Internet browsers Edge and Chrome are the same under the hood. As a result, all kinds of extensions for Chrome also work in Edge.

Extensions are extensions of a browser. They add additional options. Microsoft builds Edge, but other developers are allowed to add their own functionalities. Since Edge and Chrome have the same foundation, the extensions for Chrome can also be added to Edge.

  • OpenEdge.
  • Click the three dots icon at the top right.
  • click on Extensions.
  • Click on the slider at the bottom left Allow extension from other stores.
  • click on To allow.
  • Go to the Chrome web store: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/. (If you have seniorweb.nl open in another browser, copy this web address to the search bar in Edge.)
  • In the search bar, type a search term to find an extension, such as “Adblocker” or “Pinterest”, and press Enter.
  • A list of search results appears. Click on the desired extension.
  • Press the button add to Chrome. (Don’t mind the text on the button. It says “Chrome,” but the extension will be added to the browser you’re in. In this case, Edge.)
  • In the window that appears, click Add extension.
  • The extension has been added. You will see an icon to the right of the search bar in the browser.

You can always remove an extension again.

  • In Edge, click the three dots icon.
  • click on Extensions.
  • The installed extensions are listed here.
  • At the bottom of each extension are the words ‘Details’ and ‘Remove’.
  • click on remove.
  • Click again remove.
  • The extension is gone.
