Problems with external material in Mail

Are you experiencing this problem? The cause is probably ‘Protect activities in Mail’. You can temporarily solve this using the steps below.
A temporary solution
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
- Navigate to ‘Mail’
- Tap on ‘Privacy Protection’
- Disable the ‘Protect activities in Mail’ option
- Then turn off ‘Hide IP address’ and ‘Block external material’
On a Mac, you can turn this off via Mail â–¸ menu bar â–¸ Mail â–¸ Settings / Preferences â–¸ Privacy â–¸ uncheck the option ‘Protect Mail Activity’. You can then turn off external material and hiding your IP address.
In some cases, it is enough to go through the above steps and then you can turn them back on. You can also use a VPN, but that is not always a convenient solution.
These workarounds are temporary until Apple fixes the issue via a software update or on their servers.
