Five plug-in hybrid variants included

BMW 320e Touring plug-in hybrid
BMW is introducing a total of five new plug-in hybrid variants of the 3 Series and 5 Series. Here are the specifications.
The range of plug-in hybrid variants from BMW is growing. In March, the 5 Series will expand with the 520th sedan and 520th Touring. In addition, the 320e Sedan and Touring with a plug are available from the 3 Series; the latter also with xDrive all-wheel drive. In total, seven plug-in hybrids are available from both series.
The eDrive hybrid technology houses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 163 hp and an electric motor with up to 113 hp under the hood. The total system power is up to 204 hp, which is transferred to the rear wheels via an 8-speed Steptronic transmission – or to all four wheels on the xDrive.
The BMW 320e sedan is the fastest of the new 3 Series models: the four-door accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.6 seconds. In the 5 Series, the sedan also wins, with a sprint within 7.9 seconds. The top speed is 225 km / h, a few kilometers per hour less for the 520e Touring. In full electric mode, the plug-in hybrids reach a maximum of 140 km / h.

The range for pure electric driving varies (in the WLTP test) from approximately 53 to a maximum of 60 km. The lithium-ion battery pack has an energy content of 12.0 kWh. The plug-in hybrid models are supplied with two charging cables as standard, for your own wallbox and public charging points. A full charge takes approximately 3.6 hours.
The batteries are under the back seat. For example, sufficient luggage space is available: at least 375 liters for the 320th Sedan and 410 liters for its 5 Series brother. The fuel tank has a capacity of 40 and 46 liters respectively. The prices of the new models will follow around March, as soon as the plug-in hybrids can be ordered.
