Car of Nyck de Vries
AlphaTauri has presented the car for the new Formula 1 season in New York. This year the Dutchman Nyck de Vries drives for the sister team of Red Bull Racing.
Like Red Bull, AlphaTauri chose New York as the stage for the presentation of the new Formula 1 car. The AT04 is the combat weapon for this season. It is immediately noticeable that AlphaTauri has adapted a few things to the color scheme. Although matte blue and white again form the basis, those colors are in slightly different places on the car. Most striking, however, is the addition of red in various places. This is related to the arrival of a new sponsor; PKN Orlen, a Polish oil supplier. That was still a sponsor of the Alfa Romeo F1 team until last year, since the Pole Robert Kubica became a reserve driver.
However, we do not see Kubica in action at AlphaTauri. This year it is the honor of Yuki Tsunoda and Nyck de Vries. It will be his first Formula 1 season for De Vries (27). The driver from Sneek was already in the spotlight with F1 teams when he became Formula 2 champion, but has not yet made the switch. After several years in Formula E, the time has finally come, partly thanks to an impressive race debut last year in the GP of Italy.
