Audi was once the outlier when it comes to grille size, but nowadays there are countless brands (BMW, we’re looking at you) that know how to approach the expensive Volkswagen branch in this area. Of course, Audi cannot let that happen, so the Q5 just got an even bigger grille with its facelift.
Okay, the above is a bit lackluster. For example, it seems as if wearing the largest possible grille is one of the highest goals of the Audi management, while there are also examples of models where the fence has been reduced in size. In general, we can say that the Audi grille has become wider in recent years, but slightly less high.
In the case of the Q5, the signature part seems slightly larger on all sides, but here too it is the width that stands out the most. The grille now makes its way under the headlights. By cutting the light units at an angle, Audi has also created the necessary space for this. In addition, the headlight grille is optically separated from each other, where the optional chrome or black surround matches the original with the light clusters.
The headlights themselves are introduced to a different layout and new (matrix) LED technology. As a whole, the new nose is very similar to the front that the larger Q7 was previously allocated. The similarities between the two are also great at the back. For example, the Q5 will also have a newly arranged rear lights that are now connected by a thick decorative strip. A redesigned rear bumper, different side skirts, new color options and different wheels complete the exterior.
