Facelifted BMW iX3 caught

The BMW iX3 has only been on the market for a relatively short time, but BMW is nevertheless already working on a facelift of the electric SUV. The slightly camouflaged test car in the photos mainly shows predictable changes.

It is not surprising that the iX3 now also undergoes a ‘Life Cycle Impulse’. The X3 has been running as a model since 2017. At the end of last year, the facelifted X3 showed up for the first time and later the renewed X3 M was caught at the Nürburgring. The iX3 is the next variant on the list. In the middle of last year, the electric X3 was finally introduced to the public and only at the beginning of this year it came on the market, so the iX3 has a short life in its current guise. The fate of the iX3 is therefore comparable to that of the Mini Electric, which was also introduced relatively late compared to the other models and was given a facelift after a year.

XDrive?

The photos show predictable changes: the headlights are sharper and the LED units are also arranged differently. At the rear, only the layout of the lighting seems to have changed. The bumpers are slightly better packaged, but don’t count on major changes. Through the open windows of the test car, it can be seen that the screen of the infotainment system has grown compared to the current X3, just as has happened with the 5-series ‘LCI’. In contrast to the regular X3, the iX3 already had Live Cockpit Professional, BMW’s digital instrumentation.

Whether the iX3 will also get a variant with a larger battery pack and a more powerful electric motor with the facelift, is not yet clear. Currently, the iX3 is only available with rear-wheel drive and 286 hp. There may be a variant with xDrive, but last year the brand did not see the need for it.
