Fastned expands its partnership with Tesla. The two parties are working with Pivot Power on a new fast charging station in Oxford, UK. In total, there must ultimately be 26 charging points.
Fastned and Tesla are no strangers to each other. The companies previously worked together for a fast charging station in Germany. Now they are looking for England. The fast charging station in Oxford should eventually accommodate 14 fast chargers with a maximum charging speed of 300 kW and an additional 12 superchargers from Tesla. Initially, however, there will be ten fast chargers, so the remaining four can be added later. The electricity for the cars is partly generated by solar panels on the roof of the charging station. Fastned and Tesla are building the charging station in collaboration with the City of Oxford and Pivot Power, a British energy supplier and battery developer.
The expansion to the United Kingdom is a logical step for Fastned, which has a considerable expansion drive. According to the company, the charging infrastructure in the United Kingdom is still quite limited, while the number of EVs there is increasing considerably. The ‘Oxford Superhub’ is therefore not the only project that Fastned wants to realize on the other side of the North Sea. According to CEO Michiel Langezaal, ‘hundreds of such locations’ are still needed in the United Kingdom and Fastned wants to continue talking to landowners and partners. Pivot Power, which is developing a total of 40 charging locations in the United Kingdom, appears to be an important ally.
