Fastned has upgraded its very first fast charging station, the company reports on Twitter. Compared to the beginning in 2013, it is clear which steps have been taken in the field of charging infrastructure.
Fastned’s very first fast charging station opened its charging cables in November 2013. That was ‘Palmpol care center’ on the A1 near Barneveld. At the time, Fastned started with two ‘fast chargers’ of 50 kW, but that charging capacity has now been significantly increased: as of today, there are four fast chargers with a maximum charging capacity of 300 kW and two with 150 kW. In eight years’ time, the development in charging speed is therefore considerable. Fastned currently has a total of 164 fast charging stations, spread over five countries. This year Fastned opened 14 new fast charging stations in the Netherlands alone.
Incidentally, charging at Fastned will soon become a bit more expensive: the company was forced to raise charging rates by 17 percent as a result of rising energy prices. The standard rate is now €0.69 per kWh, for Gold members the price will increase to €0.45 per kWh from 1 December. The turnover figures are in any case good: in the third quarter of this year, turnover grew by 96 percent to €3.2 million. However, Fastned is still not profitable.
