Back after 50 years

Ferrari has presented its hybrid chariot with which it will participate in the 24 Hours of LeMans from 2023. This is the Ferrari 499P, the Italians’ first car in the absolute top class of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in fifty years.
Fifty years after the 312P last showed its tricks, this 499P is the first new prototype-Ferrari racer in the absolute top class of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It is the car with which the Italians want to compete with the Porsche 963, Peugeot 9X8, and the extreme racers from Toyota and Cadillac.
The Ferrari 499P has a historically justified ‘P’ in its name and is executed in a color scheme that is recognizable to racing enthusiasts. To celebrate Ferrari’s return to the top class of the FIA WEC World Endurance Championship after 50 years, one of the cars will be number 50 next year. The second will be assigned number 51.
Naturally, the Ferrari 499P must meet the FIA requirements for a car in the Hypercar class, so the 499P is a hybrid racer with a 680 hp powertrain, four-wheel drive and a weight of only 1,030 kilos. The 680 hp comes from a 272 hp electric motor and a twin-turbo V6 that has its origin in the power source of the Ferrari 296 GT3. Shifting is done using a sequential seven-speed gearbox.
Of course, the 24 Hours of Le Mans is just one race of the FIA World Endurance Championship, so the Ferrari 499P can be seen in action elsewhere in 2023. The hybrid crack nose will make its debut at the 1000 Miles of Sebring in March next year and will continue at the start in the 6 Hours of Portimão, the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, the 6 Hours of Monza, the 6 Hours of Fuji and the 8 Hours from Bahrain.
