For five years, algorithms determined what we saw. For five years, you and I had no control of our own. But now, the time has come, Instagram is said to be planning to bring back “chronological feed.”
No own control
As soon as you open Instagram, you will see your feed. In it you can see photos, videos, and advertisements. This feed is compiled by Instagram’s algorithms. This algorithm determines which photos you will see where and when. The first photo you see does not necessarily have to be the most recent photo. This is an eyesore for many users of the social media platform. You lose control of what you see, and some logic is often missing as a result.

Impossible to follow everything
Engadget Reports that Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri has indicated that he would like to see “the ability to have a chronological feed again.” He goes on to say that Instagram has been working on the feature for months now and that it should be launched next year. That news is a bit surprising, though. last June wrote the CEO of the company that without the algorithms, and therefore with chronological feed, it would be impossible for users to see and follow everything.
As mentioned, the feature should be available next year. It is not yet known when exactly this will be. In addition to the chronological feed, there should also be the ‘favorite feed’ function. This feature would allow you to mark a friend as ‘important’, putting them high in your feed.
