First photos and specs leaked from CFMoto 800 NK

After more or less announcing the engine earlier, CFMoto has applied for type approval for the 800 NK in China. Thanks to that request, we now know what the naked based on KTM’s LC8c parallel twin will look like and what its specifications are.

First photos and specs leaked from CFMoto 800 NK

Two months ago we had already obtained design drawings that were proof that CFMoto was indeed working on a production version of the NK-C22 concept model based on the LC8c parallel twin of KTM’s 790 Duke.

CFMoto has already received type approval in China and thanks to those documents there are now first photos plus some brief technical information of the new 800 NK, the second model after the 800 MT based on the KTM LC8c twin.

The documents also show that the 800 NK will be marketed in two different versions. On paper, the 800 NK looks like a solid competitor for the Honda CB750 Hornet and Suzuki GSX-8S, as well as the 790 Duke that KTM brought back into the range early this year as an A2 alternative to the 890 Duke.

In terms of design, the 800 NK has quite a lot of similarities with the NK-C22 concept model, the biggest difference is in the rear, where the beautiful single-sided swingarm of the concept model has given way to a double-sided bridge that is cheaper to produce.

By the way, the design comes from the pen of Kiska, the design agency that has been intertwined with the Austrian brand since the beginning of KTM’s resurrection.

The documents show that the 799cc LC8c parallel twin has a peak power of 99 hp, with a curb weight of 186 kilos. With that, the 800 NK beats the Hornet and GSX-8S, but we would not be surprised if the power is reduced to 95 hp for the European market, so that the engine can be reset to 35 kW for the A2 driving license.

The photos show two different displays (one small and one large), which suggests that CFMoto will release a basic version and a premium version, with the premium version having more extensive electronics. Think of more extensive connectivity, but an IMU with angle-dependent driving assistance is also possible.

The bicycle part, on the other hand, seems the same in both versions, the upside down front fork, double brake discs and J.Juan radial calipers look identical, but there can of course always be a difference in detail.
