Five used cars for less than 500 euros

Do you want to buy your first car, buy a car to avoid public transport or simply drive as cheaply as possible? Then you can try to get started with a budget of only € 500. That is not without risk, but sometimes there is something in between what is worth trying. Time for a selection of what is currently for sale for less than half a back.

The Barrelbrigade 2020 kicked off last week and in the coming period Nic, Stéphan and Frank can prove that they have bought a lot for next to nothing. In the past it turned out to be disappointing, so we are curious! The five used cars below probably inspire a little more confidence. Yet it must also be said here; for this money you can just buy a car that is secretly really gone. So be careful, but for € 500 you can hardly fall at the same time.

Nissan Micra – 1998 – € 450

The cheapest car from the list will probably inspire the most confidence among many. This Nissan Micra is really a typical car where you can expect little exciting, but the same applies in terms of problems. Just a wonderful no-nonsense car that has proven to work well over the years. A scrape here, an ugly hubcap there, nothing insurmountable. A test drive should of course show whether it all still feels a bit good and then you have to dare. This car will go away for this amount and if it stops at the end of the street, you are unfortunately out of luck.

Suzuki Alto – 2002 – € 490

The Suzuki Alto is of course a car that over the years has attracted the same demographics as that of the Micra. For those who could already be cheap and basic in 2002, this was the ultimate choice. That is still the credo of this Alto, because with less than € 500 it is a real bargain. There is less than 1.5 tons on the counter and except for a dent in the fender left front, it is not even that bad. There is still more than six months MOT and according to the provider it is still on as good as new tires. This is perhaps the most trusting car in the whole list. We can also be brief about it: interesting!

Peugeot 306 – 1999 – € 495

We leave the little ones for what it is for a while. This Peugeot 306 offers a lot more than the Alto and the Micra, but that also requires a little more of a side note. According to the provider, the car can no longer be locked. You can probably have that solved fairly cheaply, or you bet that no thief sees any benefit in this. Furthermore, the car looks a bit tired in a number of places, but yes, that price eh. Nothing that a set of other wheel covers and a can of paint cannot solve! Technically it is simple but quite reliable. After all, in the nose is the 1.4 with 75 hp which, among other things, was also in the 205. A great block, where the condition of the head gasket at most needs to be examined more closely. Maybe he needs a little love, but then you secretly still have quite a bit of car for your money.

Fiat Seicento – 2003 – € 500

This Fiat Seicento is the newest car in this list and you can see that especially when you get in. It was a successful design that has aged quite nicely. For years, many people have seen this as one of the ultimate beginner cars, although it must be said that you have to set aside quite a few ideals. The Seicento is not as refined as, for example, the Alto and the Micra and in terms of build quality, it does not make it there either. Furthermore, it is not such a flashy version in this case, but well, the price is also to that. Keep an eye on whether the rust devil has kept a little quiet on the important parts, because he is already busy on the front right of the fender.

Renault Twingo – 1995 – € 495

The Renault Twingo is of course in the same row as the Fiat Seicento when it comes to ‘ultimate beginner cars’. Those times may be behind them for both cars, but the Twingo should also not be missing in this list. With its 25 years, this copy is really an oldie, although it seems to have survived the years quite well. There is still a short year of MOT and so judging from the photos and description, you do not necessarily have to tinker with it. Just get in and drive. It must be your taste of course. With bumpers painted along and in a slightly flashier color, they are also still there to find, you know. Then you will not necessarily lose much more.
