Rumors say that there will be a foldable iPad with support for Mac apps. But you still have to be patient for it.
Foldable iPad coming (and it can run Mac apps)
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is currently working on a new version of the iPad. This new iPad (which should be released by 2028) has something special. According to rumors, it will be a foldable tablet.
For those who don’t think the iPad Pro is big enough, this iPad follow Gurman offers a solution. Because when unfolded, this iPad becomes the size of two iPad Pros next to each other. When you fully open this device, you get a screen of about 51 centimeters, according to Gurman. He also says it will then look like one “seamless piece of glass.”
One thing that Apple does look closely at is the fold. This is still unavoidable with foldable screens. According to rumors, the prototypes already have an almost invisible fold, but Apple has not yet managed to make it disappear completely. Samsung has been making foldable phones for five years, but has still not solved that problem.
The device will likely run on iPadOS, but Gurman did say that by 2028 this operating system should be so good that it can even run macOS apps.
And a foldable iPhone?
For those who are wondering whether there will also be a foldable iPhone: Apple is experimenting with it, but that will take at least until 2026. The first foldable iPhone is expected to be between 7.9 and 8.3 inches in size. It will then have a foldable design, just like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip or a Game Boy Advance SP from the past.
When you have unfolded the foldable iPhone, it is somewhat larger than current iPhones. But when closed you can easily put it in your pocket.
