However, the Preview app is installed on your Mac by default, so it’s available for free. Combining PDF files has several advantages. This way you can merge a project into one file, so that you don’t have to continuously open a folder with several separate PDFs in it.

Having to add all kinds of attachments to an email is also a thing of the past by combining it. Moreover, combining PDF files is very easy. Below we show how it works.

Combine PDF files with Preview in 5 steps

  1. Choose two (or more) PDF files that you want to combine with each other;
  2. Right-click on one of the files and choose ‘Open with’ followed by ‘Preview’;
  3. The Preview app will open, and you will already see the selected files in the sidebar;
  4. Now drag any PDF file you want to combine to the top file. A green plus indicates that you are doing well;
  5. The PDF files are now combined.

To be on the safe side, you can save the file and immediately check it by reopening it. You can then easily share it with others via Mail, AirDrop or the cloud.
