Friday afternoon is of course the ideal time for a very specific car news, a declaration that this time is specifically aimed at the Corvette fanatics. The still fresh Corvette Stingray (C8) is the first ‘Vette that is also available in right-hand drive form. We now have the first records of that RHD version.
Admittedly, this message is hardly relevant for the Dutch market. In fact, due to the lack of an official Chevrolet importer, you cannot even order the current Corvette in the Netherlands through the usual channels. Still, these spy plates of a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with the steering wheel on the right are worth posting. The Corvette Stingray (C8), presented in 2019, is not only the first production Corvette with a mid-engine, it is also the first in its 68-year history of a right-hand drive version.
Shortly after the launch of the Corvette Stingray, Holden, the Australian division of General Motors, indicated that it would have a right-hand drive version. The Corvette just seems to keep its own logos. The Corvette will soon be supplied in Australia by GM Specialty Vehicles because Holden itself no longer exists. Behind the front seats is undoubtedly the same 495 hp and 637 Nm strong 6.2 V8 as in the left-hand drive version launched in mid-2019. Whether the Corvette with the right-hand drive will also be delivered in Japan and the United Kingdom is not yet known.
