Ford announces Project T3: new electric pickup

Ford will launch its second all-electric pickup in 2025. There is not much information about the new model yet, although we already know that the model will go through life under the working title Project T3.

Project T3 – which stands for Trust The Truck – is the name by which Ford’s new electric pick-up is currently known. Ford reports that its new plant in West Tennessee will be operational in 2025 and will start producing the ‘T3’ from that year. Ultimately, up to 500,000 electric pick-ups have to leave the factory gates of the BlueOval City complex every year.

Ford describes the “Project T3” as its second-generation electric pickup and calls it a follow-up to the F-150 Lightning, the electric version of the F-150. It is not yet clear whether the new electric pick-up will replace the F-150 Lightning, or whether it will be a model that Ford will offer alongside it. In any case, Ford expects a lot from the new plug-in pickup. For example, the car must ‘reinvent the Ford pick-up.’ It may be a smaller electric pick-up than the F-150 Lightning, but that is pure speculation for the time being. According to Ford, the new model must be fully updateable and must also be able to share the power from its battery pack.
