Special record

Ford Explorer has already traveled around the world (as the first EV ever).

The Dutch prices of the Ford Explorer have just been released. Not only that; It has also been announced that a record attempt to become the first EV ever to drive around the world with the Explorer has been successful.

More than six months ago, young adventurer Lexie Alford set off in a Ford Explorer to ‘drive around the world’. To take the official record, she had to drive at least 28,968 km, spread over five continents and visit two antipodes (opposite extremes of continents). She started in Nice in the south of France and has now arrived there again.

Her journey took her through 27 countries and over 30,000 km. Sometimes charging was not easy and had to be done with only 2.2 kW of alternating current, or even a mobile battery had to be used to supply the car with power. Power outages in Africa and a complete lack of charging infrastructure in the Atacama desert in Chile made things particularly complicated. Electric driving is clearly not yet a breeze everywhere. According to Alford, the youngest person ever to visit every country in the world, it was a ‘fantastic but also very tough adventure’.
