Ford extends production stop in United States

The measures to contain the coronavirus are being extended throughout the world. This is also the case in the United States. Ford is therefore forced to stop work longer.

It is becoming increasingly clear that it is not yet possible to go back to a (partly) normal course of events. To do this, the situation with the coronavirus must first be brought under more control. This is also the case in the US, where things are getting faster now. President Donald Trump announced this week that the country should at least adhere to social distancing measures this month. In response, Ford says it will keep its factories inactive for longer.

Ford originally intended to restart production this month, but circumstances do not allow that. Like all other parties, the manufacturer keeps an eye on developments and adjusts its choices accordingly. It is not yet responsible to continue. Not only four American factories will remain closed for the time being, a factory in Mexico will not be opening again this month, Automotive News reports. The union (United Auto Workers) was already critical of Ford’s plans to get back to work this week. Meanwhile, a few Ford employees have also died from the effects of Covid-19.

While the normal production of Ford is stopped, work is being done on a special other production. That of respirators. Ford has started this and the goal is to build 50,000 in 100 days.
