After exploring possibilities earlier, it’s now official: Ford uses its factories to produce respirators.
Ford Motor Company joins forces with GE Healthcare. The companies will work together on the production of at least 50,000 respirators. They must be built within 100 days. If necessary, an additional 30,000 devices can be built monthly. The Ford production line in Michigan, USA, is used for this.
It still has some feet in the ground, but production of 1,500 copies is expected for the coming month. After that it will go faster. A total of 500 people will work in three working groups. Production will not stop for a moment. Ford is helping the US government that wants 100,000 new ventilators to fight the corona virus within 100 days. General Motors will also get to work. President Trump told GM to get started.
