Handsome and not that popular

Looking for a Ford Mustang, but don’t have a very large budget? Then you quickly end up with specimens from the less popular generations. We got one of those here, but secretly this is still a cutie.
When you think of the Ford Mustang, you probably mainly think of the first generation or the retro Mustangs of this century. There is a good chance that the fourth generation of the Mustang has faded into your memory. After all, that was also the last Mustang with contemporary lines and in which very little of the famous original model could be seen. The pre-facelift in particular, which was on the market from the end of 1993 to 1999, was truly a child of its time with its round shapes. During the very extensive facelift just before the turn of the century, the fourth Mustang was given a slightly tougher appearance with a slightly sharpened body and sleeker lines.
Here we have one of these before the facelift, a 96er that has a brand new Dutch license plate. Since then it has had only two owners. The first owner only parted with it in 2021 after 25 years and has given the Mustang a quiet existence all this time. Only 46,000 km are on the (European, so with kilometers working) odometer. Very little for a car of that age and it shows. If the pictures don’t deceive us, the muscle car particularly handsome. It still looks beautiful both inside and out.
It also looks neat under the hood. There you will find a 3.8 V6, the ‘smallest’ engine for this generation of the Mustang. Truly a block from other times, because despite its quite large swept volume, it only produces 147 hp. The four-speed automatic transmission does not really help for sporty work. The Mustang takes just over 9 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h and reaches a top speed of 180 km/h. In that sense it is more of a quiet one cruiser then a truly thoroughbred sports car.
Ford Mustang
It will not surprise you that it is not really a cheap example for a fourth generation Ford Mustang. The asking price is €8,000 to the nearest euro. However, the provider does not really stand out with that price. If the car is as technically fresh as it looks, you really get a lot of car for the money. If you want to spend less, you really end up in a different category, where when it comes to Mustangs it really becomes ‘wanting to be in the ringside for a dime’. This is actually the perfect Mustang for those who want to get a taste of Mustang driving in a nice way, but for whom the first retro Mustang is still a bit above budget.
