Extra strong top version

Ford also releases the new Mustang in the Netherlands and we only get it with a V8. Now know AutoWeek also that the most powerful version is coming our way: the roughly 500 hp strong Ford Mustang Dark Horse.
In September, Ford presented the long-awaited new Mustang. That tackles it broadly the same as its predecessor, although you will find the necessary changes especially in the youngest Mustang. Under the skin, work has also been done to make it a bit sharper than its predecessor, and we see that reflected in the Dark Horse, among other things. This new top of the Mustang range gets a 5.0 V8 in its nose that is expected to deliver around 500 hp power. Ford provided the eight-cylinder engine of the Mustang Dark Horse with stronger connecting rods and modified engine management to extract that power. Shifting is done with the manual Tremec six-speed gearbox with other transmissions than the standard Getrag transmission, or the also slightly differently tuned ten-speed automatic.
Ford Mustang Dark Horse
All in all, it makes the Ford Mustang Dark Horse about 50 hp stronger than the outgoing Mustang GT and 40 hp more powerful than the current top model available here, the Mustang Mach 1. So a big leap. The Dark Horse further distinguishes itself from its milder brothers with extra aerodynamic gadgets, such as a thick splitter at the bottom of the modified front bumper, a rear spoiler, thick diffuser and wider side skirts. You can’t miss the gaping hole in the hood that there is a more powerful V8 in the nose. A differential lock, larger rear stabilizer bar and stiffer suspension: it’s all there. It should make the Ford Mustang Dark Horse the most ‘track-worthy’ ex-factory Mustang and we can try it here in the Netherlands. Ford Nederland tells us that the Dark Horse is heading our way. There is no price yet.
