Ford Mustang Mach-E overtakes regular Mustang

That’s how fast it can go: Ford already makes more electric Mustangs than traditional Mustangs.

Ford has built 27,816 copies of the Ford Mustang Mach-E so far, reports Autonews Europe. In the same period, 26,089 fuel-powered Ford Mustangs were produced, so the electric crossover has definitely passed its namesake.

No surprise

It is obvious that this moment would come. After all, the electric Ford Mustang Mach-E is a relatively affordable crossover and the traditional Mustang a sports coupe or convertible, so Ford could scratch its head if the Mach-E did not quickly surpass the Mustang.

This is of course all the more true in the Netherlands, but worldwide the ‘old-fashioned’ Mustang is more popular than you may think. The situation is different in the home country, because there are still three traditional Mustangs sold for every Mustang Mach-E.

Helped by chip shortage

With this ‘victory’ of the Mach-E, it should be noted that Ford is also plagued by chip shortages. That is why the brand was forced to focus on the newer models and so the Mach-E was continued, while production of the regular Mustang was temporarily stopped.
