Ford Transit Chassis Cab: extra long with front-wheel drive

Ford is expanding the delivery range of its largest purchaser with an extra-long front-wheel drive variant. The brand supplies the Transit Chassis Cab, so with room for an enormous superstructure, in size L5 now also with front-wheel drive.

Ford supplies its Transit commercial vehicle in various shapes and sizes. There are closed versions with a double or single cabin, but the brand also supplies a Chassis Cab variant on which companies can place a superstructure themselves. The Transit Chassis Cab is available in a new version. From now on it is also available with front-wheel drive with the length dimension L5.

In that configuration it offers space for a superstructure with a loading volume of up to 24.5 cubic meters. The expected payload of the 3.5-ton commercial vehicle is around 1,100 kilos, according to Ford. According to Ford, the new version was mainly created to respond to a high demand for this type of commercial vehicle from countries in Central Europe, such as Poland. The wheelbase of the Transit in length L5 is 4.52 meters.

Ford supplies the Transit L5 Chassis Cab with two versions of the well-known 2.0 EcoBlue diesel engine. There is a 130 hp and 360 Nm strong version and a more powerful 170 hp and 390 Nm version. In principle, shifting is done with a manual six-speed gearbox, although a six-speed automatic transmission can also be ordered. Another interesting option: anyone who pays for it will get a larger fuel tank with a capacity of 95 liters. The 130 hp Transit L5 Chassis Cab (Single Cab), executed as Ambiente with manual gearbox, has a price of € 27,850 excluding VAT and bpm. From trim level Trend, the Transit L5 Chassis Cab (Single Cab) is also available with the 170 hp diesel. This bus has a basic price of € 31,325.
