Fortnite can be played again on iPhone and iPad
It took a while, but gamers can now get back to playing Fortnite on iPhone and iPad. However, it is not as simple as downloading an app from the App Store. Fortnite is still not available in Apple’s store.
To play Fortnite on your iPhone or iPad you need a subscription to GeForce NOW. This is a streaming service that allows you to play games on any smartphone, tablet, laptop, Mac or PC. You do need a stable connection to the internet for it, otherwise it won’t work.
GeForce NOW has a free version, which allows you to play one-hour gaming sessions. Do you want to play Fortnite for longer in a row? Then you have to take out a subscription of 9.99 euros per month (or 49.99 euros per 6 months).
GeForce NOW on the iPhone and iPad can only be started via the browser (such as Safari). This is because of the rules of the App Store. You can read below how to do that.
Play Fortnite on iPhone and iPad with GeForce NOW
- Surf to the website of GeForce NOWâ€
- Tap the share button (this is the square with the arrow);
- Scroll down, tap ‘Add to Home Screen’ and ‘Add’;
- Tap the newly appeared GeForce NOW icon on your home screen;
- Tap ‘Agree and Continue’;
- Tap ‘Sign In’ and create a GeForce NOW account if you don’t already have one;
- Log in with your account, choose Fortnite and tap ‘Play’.
Playing Fortnite with Game Pass Ultimate
There is another way to play Fortnite on your iPhone and iPad. Microsoft also has a streaming service that you can use. Cloud gaming through Microsoft requires an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. In addition to Fortnite, you also get unlimited access to more than 100 games on PC, consoles and mobile devices.
Surf to the . with the browser on your iPhone Xbox cloud website and create an account. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate costs 12.99 euros per month, but you can try the service for one month for 1 euros. Then log in with your account and follow the steps.
Why did Fortnite disappear from the App Store?
In 2020, Epic Games introduced its own payment system in the popular game Fortnite. They did this to avoid the mandatory 30 percent commission on in-app purchases, such as a new outfit for your Fortnite doll. This went against the rules of the App Store, which removed the game.
Apple was subsequently sued by Epic. Epic Games accuses Apple of monopoly behavior, among other things. The judge then indicated that the game may remain blocked, but that Apple may not delete the developer account of Epic Games. The important Unreal Engine that is linked to this account is used by many games in the App Store.
After all these years, Epic Games and Apple are still at odds. Fortunately, there is now a way for gamers to play Fortnite on iPhone and iPad again!
