Fortnite update for iPhone adds controller support

Good news for avid Fortnite fans: the popular game now also supports controllers for smartphone players. The free Fortnite 7.30 update adds the support.

Fortnite controller support available on mobile

Fortnite version 7.30 is now rolling out worldwide and adds a long-awaited feature. The game now also supports controllers on mobile. That means you can connect a bluetooth controller to your iPhone to play Fortnite.

Developer Epic Games has not indicated whether players with a controller can only play among themselves, or whether they also encounter touchscreen players. In theory, you aim much more precisely with a controller, which gives you a big advantage.

Unfortunately, you can only link MFi controllers to your iPhone or iPad. These are accessories that are approved by Apple and are therefore ‘Made for iPhone’. Think, for example, of controllers from Steelseries, Razer or Gamevice.

Chiller Grenade and Solid Gold Mode

In addition, the update adds a new weapon, the Chiller Grenade. If your enemies are hit by this grenade, they will slide around for a few seconds and become harder to stop. Solid Gold mode is also temporarily available again. In this mode only Legendary weapons will appear and you will collect materials faster. Minor improvements and tweaks have been made to the interface, Playground mode and gameplay.
