For the Fiat 500e, Stellantis comes with a reward system for economical drivers. They can earn Netflix vouchers and cryptocurrency, among other things.
Of course, economical driving always yields money, but you should expect little more from car manufacturers in terms of reward than a digital sheet on the screen in front of you. Stellantis (the new name of FCA and PSA) wants to change that. In collaboration with start-up Kiri Technologies, the company is introducing a reward system in which economical drivers collect KiriCoin, a digital currency that is built around CO2 savings. The real thrift champions are also rewarded with other credits and discounts, for example from Netflix, Spotify or Zalando.
The driving style of Fiat 500e drivers is analyzed in the usual way and linked to an ‘ecoscore’. Users can keep an eye on that score themselves via the Fiat app, which also contains the number of KiriCoins earned. According to Fiat, every economical kilometer yields about one Kiricoin, with each ‘coin’ being worth two cents. That obviously does not apply to every kilometer, because Fiat calculates that 10,000 km will yield the equivalent of approximately € 150.
