Apple Watch Ultra will not get a microLED
Last year the Apple Watch Ultra 2 was released, and the smartwatch’s screen was particularly striking. Apple provided the watch with a display with an even higher peak brightness. With a peak brightness of no less than 3000 Nits, you can always read the screen without any problems, even in full brightness. The future Apple Watch Ultra will reportedly have an even better screen.

Apple is rumored to be working on a microLED screen for the Apple Watch Ultra. This is an improved version of OLED, but it seems that the next Apple Watch Ultra will have to make do without the new screen technology. According to insiders, Apple has stopped working with the company behind the production of the microLED screens for the future Apple Watch Ultra. This is why.
Advantages of the screen technology
MicroLED is best described as the better version of OLED, with the biggest advantage being that the quality of the screen is guaranteed. With OLED, the quality gradually deteriorates over time, while this is not the case with microLED. In addition, the new screen technology has a wider viewing angle, so you can clearly see the time on the future Apple Watch even from the furthest angle.
However, Apple has now decided to postpone the introduction of the microLED screens, meaning that the next Apple Watch Ultra will have to make do with an OLED display. This has to do with the production costs of the new screen technology, which are much higher. Apple has not been able to reduce those costs, which would make the price of the future Apple Watch Ultra much higher due to the microLED screen.
Apple Watch Ultra extremely expensive
For this reason, Apple has chosen not to equip the next Apple Watch Ultra with the new screen technology. That’s not surprising, because this is already one of Apple’s most expensive smartwatches. The first generation of the Apple Watch Ultra cost no less than 999 euros, Apple already lowered the price of the Apple Watch Ultra 2 to 899 euros. It is expected that the future Apple Watch Ultra will have the same price.

It is not yet clear when the next Apple Watch Ultra will appear. Apple released the first generation Apple Watch Ultra in 2022, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 was released last year.
