Gboard Keyboard for iOS now translates texts for you at lightning speed

The versatile Google keyboard Gboard for iOS has received a handy update. Google has added a translation function, which makes it possible to quickly convert text you type into another language.

Gboard translation feature added to iOS app

The standard keyboard for iOS is fine, but for those who want something extra, Gboard for iOS is the most versatile option. This official keyboard for Google not only functions as a keyboard but has all kinds of built-in functions.

This way you can quickly draw, add GIFs or look up things on Google, YouTube or Google Maps to share quickly. Recently, Google also added ‘haptic feedback’. If you enable this, you will get a vibration with every key and it will feel like you are tapping on a physical keyboard.

A new feature has now been added to this list. Google has built its Translate service into the keyboard in iOS. This allows you to simply type text that you want to translate in Dutch first. When you press translate, the translated text will immediately appear in the text field for quick sending.

Submitting a question or reservation at a holiday address or communicating with international friends, foreign travel companions or overseas family becomes a lot easier and faster. The Translate function supports more than 100 languages.

To use the translation feature, you need to give Gboard full access in the settings. You can activate the feature by tapping the Google icon on the Gboard keyboard and selecting ‘Translate’ here.

Effortlessly type in foreign languages

Do you regularly type in different languages? Another recent update lets you effortlessly switch between multiple languages. You simply add this to the keyboard in the Gboard app. As soon as you start typing, the keyboard recognizes which language you are using. Gboard will then automatically adjust the word suggestions and improvements accordingly.
