Genesis has presented its third electrically powered model. We are introduced to the Electrified GV70, an electric SUV in the class of cars such as the BMW iX3 and Mercedes-Benz EQC.

Genesis’ international range of electric vehicles currently consists of two models. The brand has the GV60 related to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 and an electric variant of a car that it also supplies with combustion engines: the Electrified G80. Genesis now comes with a third EV, a car that, like the Electrified G80, is an electric version of an existing model.

We are introduced to the Electrified GV70, as its name suggests, an electrically powered version of X3 competitor GV70. The four-wheel drive Electrified GV70 has two electric motors of 218 hp and 350 Nm each, which are good for a system output of 490 hp and 700 Nm. This shoots the SUV to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The electric range is between 400 and 500 kilometers. Good news: just the dedicated EVs from Kia and Hyundai can charge the Genesis Electrified GV60 up to 350 kW! Just like the EV6 and Ioniq 5, the electric GV70 also has a V2L system with which electrical appliances and even cars can be charged.

From the outside, few things reveal that you are dealing with an electric GV70. Like the Electrified version of the sedan brother G80, the SUV has a closed grille with the tailgate hidden in it and at the back only the exhaust-less rear bumper gives away that this GV70 wants power.

Like last year’s Electrified G80, the Electrified GV70 shines at the Guangzhou International Auto Exhibition in China. Genesis has plans to also sink its teeth into the European car market and wants to sell the GV70 here, among other things. The Electrified GV70 would be an interesting addition to the range, just like the GV60 and the electric G80 for certain countries – including the Netherlands.
