Genesis has released the technical specifications of the electric GV60. The GV60 is a crossover that you should actually see as the premium brother of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. Extra good news: he’s coming to Europe!

Genesis was once a model name of Hyundai, but is now basically to Hyundai what Lexus is to Toyota. The brand will settle on European soil this year and will first launch the G80 and GV80 in countries such as Germany and Switzerland, followed by the G70 and GV70. Earlier this year, Genesis presented its second all-electric model: the GV60. Genesis kept the technical specifications of the GV60 under wraps, but now reveals them and also says that the GV60 is coming to Europe. Good news! If Genesis also enters the Dutch market, the brand has an interesting model with the GV60.

The GV60 is a direct sister model of the warmly received Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5, stubbornly designed electric models that use the E-GMP platform. In the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, this modular platform developed specifically for electric cars can be combined with a 58 kWh battery pack and a 77.4 kWh battery pack. Genesis only brings the 77.4 kWh battery to the GV60. However, there will be versions with rear and front-wheel drive.

Power and range

The rear-wheel drive variant has a 228 hp and 350 Nm electric motor on the rear axle. This GV60 has a range of 451 kilometers. The Genesis GV60 with four-wheel drive has a 218 hp electric motor at the rear and a 101 hp strong copy at the front. Together they are good for a system power of 319 hp and 605 Nm. The stronger electric motors do provide a slightly smaller range, although the range of the four-wheel drive GV60 with 400 kilometers nothing to be ashamed of.

Genesis has also devised a sporty top model for the GV60. That variant has two 218 hp powerful electric motors that help the crossover to a system power of 425 hp and 605 Nm. Its range: 368 kilometers. The GV60 will not get a 584 hp strong variant such as the Kia EV6. GV60 is equipped with a Boost mode and with a real Drift Mode. Small side note: all figures mentioned in this article are those of the Genesis GV60 that will be launched in its home country of South Korea. The figures of the GV60 coming to Europe will follow later. Each GV60 can charge up to 350 kW, which means that the 77 kWh battery can be pumped from 10 percent to 80 percent of its capacity with power in 18 minutes.

Dimensions

Until now we had to guess about the dimensions of the GV60, but we can now also fill in those open spaces. The Genesis GV60 is 4.52 meters long, 1.89 meters wide and 1.58 meters high. This makes it significantly shorter than the 4.64 meter long Ioniq 5 and 4.68 meter long Kia EV6. The GV60 is also 2 centimeters lower than Hyundai’s EV, but three centimeters higher than the stretched Kia. At 2.9 meters, the wheelbase of the Genesis GV60 is the same as that of the Kia EV6, but ten centimeters shorter than that of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which has 3 meters between its front and rear axles.

Equipment

Genesis equips the GV60 with quite a bit of technological indulgence. For example, the car will receive Face Connect, a system that recognizes the face of the owner who is near the car and unlocks the car. In the GV60 it should be dead quiet thanks to Road Active Noise Control. In addition, Genesis Road Preview brings to the car, a system that consists of cameras and scans the road surface to adjust the damping accordingly.
