Genesis is coming to Europe this summer

Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis is coming to Europe. This summer the time has come, although that does not seem to apply to the Netherlands yet. The brand is already revealing what is to come.

It has been known for some time that Genesis is coming to Europe. Now we also know when: Genesis will be arriving in Europe from June. The brand, created when Hyundai ripped off the Genesis model name in 2015 and turned it into a separate luxury brand, will open its first stores this summer in Germany, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Online sales are also possible. According to Genesis, that is the ‘initial launch of the brand’, so expect it to expand later to other European countries and probably the Netherlands as well.

Genesis starts in the aforementioned countries with the sale of the G80 and GV80, which you can see as competitors of cars such as the BMW’s 5-series and X5 respectively. Shortly afterwards, the G70 and GV70 hit the market, targeting cars like the BMW’s 3-series and X3, Audi’s A4 and Q5 and Mercedes C-class and GLC.

Electric

In Europe, electric driving is on the rise and Genesis has also pre-sorted this. In our part of the world, we can immediately expect three fully electric models from Genesis in the first year. The first is the recently unveiled Genesis G80 Electrified, which is likely to be known as the G80e. After that, two more will appear, one of which is on a platform specially intended for EVs. Probably that is the Genesis ‘JW’, which has been spotted several times in Europe; a sister model to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. The other may be the all-electric version of the GV70, the GV70e.

Interestingly enough, we still have to wait and see when Genesis will also visit the Netherlands. Do you think that would have a chance of success?
